The child artist turned heroine, Remya made her lead role debut with Jayaram starred 'Anachantham' as a saree clad village girl with oil hair. Later she appeared in many movies with her least important roles. Traffic, the critically acclaimed hit turned to be a turning point in her career and she began to get good opportunities from Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

Remya also proved herself as a good playback singer, as she recently crooned a folk song 'Aande Londe', composed by popular music composer Sarath for director P. Balachandran's Malayalam film 'Ivan Megharoopan', a biopic of poet P. Kunjiraman Nair
